When we spoke about where Rut & Jadrick wanted to do their engagement shoot there were many location options throughout Cape Town (where I was living at the time) - Signal Hill, Saunders’ Rocks, Kirstenbosch, Kalk Bay. We went back and forth, until one day Rut messaged me and said that they wanted to take photos at Arderne Gardens. The’ve never been there before, she said, but the pictures on the internet look beautiful. And, I smiled… because this garden isn’t at the top of the ‘must see’ Cape Town list, but it was one of my most favourite spots in the whole city. A quiet garden next to the hustle and bustle of Main Road. A garden whose trees are some of the oldest in the city. A garden who breathes new life into life!
