Most projects are invitations. To look deeper. See clearer, perhaps. This one invited me to move slower. Like a cup of tea in the late afternoon sun, or noticing how the air feels different after a storm. There’s a tenderness and a quiet slowness to it - a chance to breathe a little deeper. That’s what creating this gift felt like. Anneh commissioned me to create an artwork for her husband, Jean, in celebration of his 32nd birthday. From the beginning, she shared that if there’s one thing Jean doesn’t just love but truly ís, it’s music. And so, I aimed to capture the sounds of Jean, and the things that add sound to his life, in material form. Working with Anneh was a dream. She was thoughtful, sensitive, and intentional in every detail. (She even made a playlist for me to listen to as I work. And, so this artwork is also infused with their favourite songs!)
‘Fyngesnaar’ - a process & piece that surprised me with its depth and tenderness. It holds layers of memories, meaning, and love all woven together. Creating it was as raw as it was joyful, and I feel so grateful to have been trusted with part of their story.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
