“A walk in the park” - an ode to finding the right human to ‘adult’ with.
When Alec and I chatted about this Valentine’s gift for his partner, Jonty, he repeatedly mentioned how Jonty shows up, ready to do all the things no one ever feels like doing as an adult. Paying bills, going to the grocery store, standing in bank queues… the everyday admin of life. At the same time, Alec spoke about how much he loves that their relationship is playful, almost rooted in a childlike joy and contentment found in life’s simplest pleasures. And thát was it:
The balance between showing up as an adult and having your inner child seen and cared for. That’s what this work is about.
From a background created from their water and electricity bills, right through to their bubble in the park - drawing inspiration from children’s book illustrations and their story, since they met at a dog park.
