In 2006, my grandfather bought a blue Honda Jazz. Ten years later, in 2016, he passed it on to my father when he could no longer drive. In 2017, I started driving the blue Honda Jazz and gave her a name: Glenda Blue. (Glenda comes from Glentana - the place where my father’s family and now our whole family often go for holiday!) For my father's 59th birthday, I wanted to create something special for him. I opted for a symbolic piece made from Glenda’s license disks (from my time driving her) and maps representing significant places in both my father’s life and mine. Every stitch and circle in this work carries meaning—scroll down to see the story they tell!
Gifts don’t have to be fancy; they can simply share a story of many kilometers traveled and countless thank-yous along the way.
