You know when a idea lingers... but you don't quite know how to share it with a the world just yet, until one day you just know! That was what this conceptual video project was like. There was an idea brewing inside me about what the process of "doing the work" (therapy) really feels like, but how I could visually capture the essence of one’s inner world?
The answer came to me with the help of some flowers... I had a bundle of yellow wildflowers on my nightstand. One evening, I noticed how their shadows danced on the wall behind them. In that moment, I knew how to express what I wanted to say: When we confront our own shadows, we often fear that all we’ll uncover is a mess of trauma and pain. But in doing this work, we also discover our true selves—a beautiful bundle of yellow wildflowers growing amidst it all. That’s the story I wanted to tell!
I’m honored that Sive Dunjwa agreed to partner with me on this project. He not only embraced this concept but also brought it to life with his vibrant and beautiful presence. It was no longer just something I needed to express; it became a collaborative creation. And so, this video was born from a deep appreciation for our ability as humans to truly befriend ourselves.
